I’ll say this for the Corps of Engineers: They believe in economy of language. This is the latest announcement concerning the looming restrictions on access to Corps’ tailwaters on the Cumberland River.
“On Dec. 13, 2012, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will announce its change in operation to comply with existing policy on Restricted Access to Hazardous Waters around Corps Dams.
“The announcement follows a week that saw productive meetings between the Nashville District Commander Lt. Col. James DeLapp, and other Corps officials with members of the Tennessee and Kentucky congressional delegations and other key stakeholders.”
That’s it.
The other key stakeholders who attended last week’s productive meetings included representatives from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources www.fw.ky.gov and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency www.tnwildllife.org. No rank-and-file fishermen, apparently.

It’s a safe bet that other Corps district offices and gatekeepers at the Tennessee Valley Authority are keeping a close watch on this.
