FLW

The resignation of Charlie Evans as president and chief executive officer for FLW Outdoors marks a big change for the tournament organization. How big? I don’t know and doubt that anyone outside the corporate HQ knows.

FLW has helped fuel bass fishings transformation into a big time, big money proposition, rivaling BASS in influence and prestige. Evans has played a strong hand in that – he assumed the FLW Outdoors CEO position in 1996 and became president and CEO in 2004. He started with what was then Operation Bass as tournament director in 1982.

As part of the management shift, FLW chairman Irwin Jacobs will take over as CEO. And during last weeks FLW championship Jacobs announced T. Boone Pickens as a new equity partner in the company.

More changes to come? Probably.
