Indiana’s inland stream trout season opens Saturday at 6 a.m. local time.
By Saturday’s opening bell, Hoosier wildlife officials will have stocked about 23,000 rainbow trout in 17 streams across 12 different counties. Find out where at wildlife.IN.gov/5457.htm.
The hatchery-reared trout are about 11 inches and, typically, not picky when slashing a bait.
According to Indiana fishery officials the bag limit for trout in inland waters other than Lake Michigan and its tributaries is five fish per day; minimum seven inch length. No more than one can be a brown.
Social distancing is required and so is a fishing license and trout/salmon stamp but if you have a license and stamp from the 2019-20 season hold on to it because by way of Indiana Executive Order, 2019-20, annual licenses and stamps, including fishing licenses and trout/salmon stamps, are valid until May 22, 2020.
