I was married on a rainy Saturday afternoon in a church I didn't belong to before a preacher I didn't know. My bride and I exchanged vows, descended into the church basement for cake and punch and left as soon as it was polite to do so, anxious to start our life together. We walked out of the church as something that hadn't existed a couple of hours earlier: husband and wife. The union has produced two splendid daughters and more joy and happiness than I knew existed in the world. That was 40 years ago. I've no doubt the next 40 will be as glorious as the first 40. Happy Anniversary to us, Katy Garth. Happy Anniversary to us.
