Small Trout – GSMNP Version

Fishing above the foot bridge at the Chimney Top trailhead turned into a scramble over sun bleached rocks between casts into bathtub size pools. The drought of 2012 has been baking the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, too.

Casting to wild fish – especially to those holding in small pools and startlingly clear water – is often a one-and-done proposition. You catch them or spook them.

This one wasn’t spooked but probably wished it had been. No worry. It was sent back to grow some more.
