Doves

Sept. 1 is the traditional dove opener. If you’re planning on going today (and I hope you are) hunt safe, hunt smart and remember that while doves can be dizzying in flight they are smaller and not always as fast as they appear when looking over a gun site. Take an extra second to aim carefully, lead and follow through.

And please remember the sky rule, especially if hunting a crowded field. Low shots are dangerous. Be sure you can see part of the sky below  your gun barrel before pulling the trigger.
