College Fishing National Championship

The National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship opens Thursday on Kentucky Lake, the massive TVA Tennessee River impoundment. Kentucky Lake is the last reservoir on the Tennessee River system. It is a superb bass factory.

Murray State University in Murray, Ky., is serving as the host school.  Participants are here from coast to coast. States represented include Alabama, California, Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, Missouri, Florida and Wisconsin.

The winning team earns a $100,000 package (cash and boat) for the school and its bass club. The most coveted prize, however, is this: The college national winner earns a slot in the 2011 FLW Forrest L. Wood Cup championship and will go head-to-head with some of the best pros in the business.
